This was a very special day for a precious 1-year old girl. We had fun planning a backyard luau that incorporated a tropical display of sweets and a mixed Hawaiian-Filipino savory menu (fully loaded with a whole Lechon). The day was packed with activities for the children, including a Lilo & Stitch jumper house (from Fantasy Jumperz), a special hula performance & lesson, paper lei making and swimming in the backyard pool! The guests also had access to a DIY photobooth - which took some super fun photos! A luau would not be complete without a lei for each guest - this one made of candies (yummy; photos below).
The balloons were anchored down by golf tees - a genius trick we picked up from Pinterest.
We had the most fun with the dessert table - with a backdrop filled with paper rosettes, streamers, a Martha Stewart birthday garland and photos of the birthday girl from 0 - 12 months! The sweets menu included multi-layered jello & haupia (coconut jello) cups on the 3-tier trays, mango cake (left), 3-layered vanilla cake (center), guava cake (right), pineapple cupcakes with coconut frosting, a fruit platter, brownie with oreo frosting push pops, pianono (a Filipino rolled cake) and a jar of chocolate chip cookies. All were homemade except the mango and guava cake, which were ordered from Aki's Bakery.
We were very fortunate to have found Carmel from A Polynesian Performance last minute, who put on a great hula performance, including a dedication hula to the birthday girl and her parents. She also gave the kids a fun hula lesson.

Your birthday preparations are really awesome. The dessert table looks delicious and the pictures hung in buntings are so pretty. It reminded me of my little niece’s birthday party at one of event space. We also had some similar things there.
